The journey as it happened
A city best taken one street at a time.
Porto gave us the sort of days we enjoy most: no need to rush, plenty to look at and something memorable around the next corner. We walked, stopped, looked up and let the city set the pace.
The famous blue tiles deserve the attention they get, but it was the smaller moments that made the trip feel like ours — warm streets, a drink together and that sunset above the river.

Porto rewarded us when we stopped treating the day like a checklist. Leave room for the view, the photograph and the unplanned sit-down.
Expect the hills
There is a lot of walking and plenty of climbing. Comfortable shoes and a pace that suits you make the day much more enjoyable.
Stay for the light
The city changes towards evening. Find your view in good time, then let the sunset do the rest.
